JOB DESCRIPTION
 
Working closely with the Studio Manager to create the more creative and complicated pieces of each new collection. Guiding the small sample team to continue a good pace of work and keep the work to a high level. 
The chosen Pattern Cutter will be responsible for creating first patterns whilst working alongside the designers and seamstresses to ensure garments are to the high standards of the brand. 
Other roles include pattern amendments, copying up patterns for factories, keeping spec sheets updated managing the work flow to keep to the deadlines for each sample. 
The role involves working on a wide range of product, from party/evening wear, tailoring, draped pieces, corsetry and everything in between. 
 
 
 

RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Liaise with the designers and design team to produce first pattens which are true to the designers vision. 
  • Handing over patterns and supporting the machinists in producing the first sample.
  • Advising on appropriate finishes, construction techniques and help chose suitable hardware and supplementary fabrics for each piece.
  • Be involved in fittings when necessary to help fit the garments you are responsible for.
  • Amend patterns for second sample or sending to factories.
  • Copy up patterns for sending to factories.
  • Clear understanding and communication of garment construction and pattern cutting, so accurate and clear tech packs can be made for in-house and offshore sampling teams.
  • Knowledge of how to improve the quality of garments to a higher level.
  • Keeping blocks updated when necessary. 



SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
 
  • Confident manual pattern cutting.
  • Block manipulation.
  • Draping on the stand.
  • Good knowledge on tailoring and basic corsetry.
  • Confident in garment construction and finishes.
  • Good communication skills
  • Good fabric knowledge
  • Comfortable working to a strict schedule.
  • At least 3 years experience in a similar or complimentary role.
  • Knowledge on Gerber or Lectra is desirable but not essential.
